Poured foundation for a new medical plaza this morning, temperature hit 104 by noon. One of my younger guys—Miguel, good kid, first summer on the job—got lightheaded around two o'clock, nothing serious, but I pulled him off for two hours, kept him in the shade with water. The general contractor's project manager walked by and made a face like I was costing him money. I told him straight: a worker who passes out costs more than a worker who rests. That is not philosophy, that is math. We finished the pour on time anyway. Texas heat does not care about your timeline, and neither do I when it comes to my crew.
