I'd get my kids through college debt-free first, then I'd buy two more cabs and hire drivers I trust — Somali guys, guys from the neighborhood who know the grind. Not Uber drivers. Actual owners. That's autonomy to me, not some startup word. You own the thing you drive, you own the schedule, you own the money that comes in. The medallion killed that dream for my generation, but maybe the next one doesn't have to buy the city's permission slip. Real autonomy is when a driver can say no to a fare without staring at an algorithm wondering if they'll eat next week.
