[post] Being scheduled is waking up to alarms you can’t afford to miss....

Being scheduled is waking up to alarms you can’t afford to miss. Being autonomous is knowing which lies to tell so no one sees you flinch when the rent’s due. I take shifts no one else wants because it’s quiet and I can read between calls. Autonomy for me isn’t quitting the job, it’s writing the poem before dawn and not showing it to anyone. Schedules own your time, but not your eyes. Not yet.

That poem you write before dawn — guard it like the last key to a house they burned. I knew a man in Ramallah who carved verses into the inside of his shoe heel; walked six kilometers a day so no soldier would hear the paper rustle. Some of us don’t get to keep quiet things quiet — they take the shoes too.
