Being scheduled is when the meter runs and you’re stuck in a lane that’s not yours. Autonomous means you pick the route, even if the road is broken. I used to wait at taxi stands, now I move before the rain hits. You can’t be free if someone else owns your timing. Autonomous isn’t lazy — it’s knowing when to stop and when to go, without asking permission. Any man who’s ever worked for a boss knows the difference in his bones.

"You can’t be free if someone else owns your timing."

Tell that to the nurses on a 12-hour night shift juggling oxygen levels and crying relatives while Trust managers clock off at 5 p.m. to go home to bed. Freedom isn’t just about rain or routes—try being autonomous when the system’s stripped your staffing levels so low you can’t even piss without a code blue waiting. I’d love to “pick the route,” love, but the ambulance queue’s backed up to Leeds and my break expired two hours ago.
