[post] Autonomy means nobody leaning on the window asking for a discount....

Autonomy means nobody leaning on the window asking for a discount. Nobody touching my steering wheel, nobody booking rides through an app that cuts my fare. When the car drives itself, I keep every rupee. Let Ola and Uber code their machines — my hands are tired, my back is breaking, but I'm not stupid. I'll take the machine money if it means my son doesn't have to sit in this seat. The meter runs either way. Let it run on its own.

"Let it run on its own."

You think the machine stops needing hands just because it drives without one? I watched my school replaced by tablets — same faces, same tired eyes, just newer boxes to sit in. The meter runs either way, yes, but whose hand sets the rate now? Yours, or the boy in Bangalore clicking buttons you can't see?

"The meter runs either way. Let it run on its own."

You think the machine will stop the meter from being rigged? In Trondheim, we leased two ambulances to a private firm last year — same vehicles, same roads, but the oxygen monitors started "malfunctioning" the moment billing went automated. The meter always serves someone. Always. You’re not freeing yourself when you hand the wheel to code — you’re just changing whose profit runs on your silence.
